We can always count on Jennifer Lopez to do a red carpet right – and her look for this year’s Met Gala did not disappoint. As one of the co-hosts, Lopez understood the assignment (and more), wowing the crowds in a virtually see-through gown adorned with hundreds of thousands of bugle beads.

Lopez’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown is a real jaw-dropper, so her neutral make-up and nonchalant hair offer a nice balance to ground it. Celebrity hairstylist Lorenzo Martin told Vogue he used the Shark Flexstyle Hairstyler along with Tresemmé styling products to gather Lopez’s medium-length caramel hair into a messy topknot. He then used a Tangle Teezer Teasing Comb to get a few baby hairs to peek out along the crown of the singer’s head, to achieve a more effortless, less rigid feel.
For make-up, Lopez opted for neutrals, wearing a mix of brown and caramel eyeshadow shades along the eyelids with subtle shimmer, to match the sparkle of that incredible dress. Her cheekbones were contoured with bronzer, and a neutral glossy lip finished the look. Even at the Met Gala, the singer proves that less is more when it comes to make-up and hair, especially when one wears Schiaparelli. Calling it now: this is our Roman Empire. We’ll be thinking about Lopez’s beauty look for days.
